Barbara was born 2/14/1947 in Savannah, GA. Barbara was a pioneer for women in the structural steel business. She began her career in the early 1970s in Savannah, GA as one of the first female steel draftsman/detailers, and her career continued up until she retired in 2016. She was very devoted to her children, to her sisters, and to her large extended family, and she formed many close friendships through the years while living mostly in the Savannah, GA and Eupora, MS areas. She didn't have the easiest life, but she always put others' needs before her own regardless of the circumstances, and many looked up to her for guidance. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her large extended family and friends, and she never missed a birthday or holiday with them. She loved serving at her church and in the community, and she is dearly missed by many. Something she was best known for was being a horse show mom, and she traveled all over the country to American Quarter Horse Shows. Later on, she enjoyed watching her granddaughters continue this tradition. Mrs. Herring was a huge sports fan, and later in life, you could often find her in the stands of a basketball game at MSU. She loved playing dominoes and card games with her close circle of friends, and she was an avid reader and never stopped learning. She kept close company with her beloved pet dogs, and it was rare to see her without them. Oliver Funeral Home of Eupora was in charge of all arrangements.
