It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we bid farwell to our father, grandfather, brother and friend. Don L. Maddox, age 76, of Mathiston, Mississippi went to rest in the arms of Jesus on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi. Don was a resident of Choctaw and Webster Counties most of his life. He was born on September 15, 1949, in Eupora, Mississippi to the late James "Rabbit" Willard Maddox and Anna Belle James Maddox. To best describe Don, he was fun, witty, loved life and his family. He attended Ackerman High School then joined the United States Army, spending two years of his service in Germany. Much of his employment career was with the furniture industry where he served as a lumber dry kiln operator and import manager at Futorian Manufacturing Company in Eupora, Mississippi and Flexsteel Manufacturing in Starkville, Mississippi. After leaving Flexsteel, Don joined his brother, Jimmy, at J & M Bagging Company in Eupora, Mississippi. One of his greatest loves during this phase of his life was working with his brother and traveling much of the United States overseeing job sites. Don loved hunting, fishing, golfing and being with friends and family. He is preceded in death by his parents, James "Rabbit" Willard Maddox and Anna Belle James Maddox. Don is survived by his sons, Shea (Jessica) Maddox of Spring, Texas and Shawn Maddox of Eupora, Mississippi; four grandchildren, Wyatt, Adalind, Paxton and Pace Maddox; his brothers, Jimmy (Marilyn) Maddox of Starkville, Mississippi and Michael (Dana) Maddox of Savannah, Tennessee and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Don will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at New Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Choctaw County, Mississippi. The family will receive friends and loved ones for a time of Visitation on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, from 10:00AM until time for Funeral Services at 11:00AM at New Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery at New Mt. Pisgah. All Graveside/Committal Services with Military Honors will be held inside the Church at New Mt. Pisgah instead of the Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Paxton, Pace, Cameron, Wyatt and Cody Maddox and Marvin Goodwin. Oliver Funeral Home of Eupora is honored to be entrusted with all arrangments.
