Dorothy Jean Stewart Schmitz

Dorothy Jean Stewart Schmitz, age 94, of Eupora, Mississippi passed away on Monday morning, March 2, 2026, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Eupora. Dorothy was born on June 26, 1931, to the late Marion Wayne Stewart and Mary Marie Crowley Stewart in Webster County, Mississippi. Dorothy was a member of Eupora Methodist Church in Eupora and a retired bookkeeper for several different businesses in Eupora including Gammill Chevrolet, Webster County Chancery Clerk's Office with the late J.D. Robertson and Sandra Dewberry Insurance Agency. She enjoyed gardening and sharing the flowers, especially her gladiolus with her church supplying arrangements to be used during worship times. Dorothy is survived by her son, Darrel (Donna) Schmitz of Starkville, Mississippi; stepsister, Cherry McMullen Smith of Starkville, Mississippi; stepbrother, Bobby (Carolyn) McMullen of Eupora, Mississippi; one granddaughter, Courtney Schmitz of Starkville, Mississippi; a loving caregiver, Mrs. Linda Cork and host of extended family members and friends. She is preceded in death by both of her parents, Marion Wayne and Mary Marie Crowley Stewart and her husband, Ullin Darrel Schmitz. Funeral Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Dorothy will be held at 2:00PM on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Eupora Methodist Church in Eupora, Mississippi. The family will receive friends and loved ones for a time of visitation one hour prior to the services on Thursday, March 5, 2026, from 1:00PM until to 2:00PM at the church. Interment will follow at Clarkson Cemetery in Webster County, Mississippi. Rev. Cody Prewitt will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Chad Ballard, Harvey Leslie, Brent Mitchell, David Muselwhite, Justin Roberts and Bruce Walters. Honorary Pallbearers will be Shannon Jenkins, Larry Joblin, Sidney Joblin, Perry Smith, Donald Stewart and all of Mrs. Dorothy's extended special friends of Eupora and the surrounding communities who were all so special to her. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that all donations made in Mrs. Dorothy's honor go to Eupora Methodist Church, 434 West Fox Avenue, Eupora, Mississippi 39744.
