Elton Ray Johnson age 87 of Eupora, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday, August 4, 2025. Ray was born on February 14, 1938, in Montgomery County, Mississippi to Carl Johnson and Johnnie Kennedy Johnson. He was a retired farmer and factory worker and enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors. Ray is survived by his loving wife, Annie Louise Jenkins Johnson of Eupora, Mississippi; one daughter, Melody (Greg) Petty of Eupora, Mississippi; three grandchildren, Cutter (Chelsea) Petty, Hunter Petty and Sadie Grace Petty, two great grandchildren, Asher Petty and Rhett Petty and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by both of his parents, Carl Johnson and Johnnie Kennedy Johnson; four sisters, Nellie Palmertree, Elizabeth Allred, Flora Mae Niblett and Betty Ruth Robinson; three brothers, Sherman Johnson, Lee Johnson and Hulon Johnson; also two infant twin siblings, Louise and L.C. Johnson and one great grandchild, Emersyn Marie Grace Petty. Funeral Services for Mr. Ray will be held at 3:00PM on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel in Eupora, Mississippi. Interment will follow at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery in Choctaw County, Mississippi. The Graveside/Committal Services will all be held at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel instead of Providence Cemetery. The family will receive friends and loved ones for a time of visitation on Thursday, August 7, 2025, from 1:00PM until time for services at 3:00PM at Oliver Funeral Home in Eupora, Mississippi. Rev. Will Livingston will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Greg Petty, Cutter Petty, Hunter Petty, Cameron Orr, Odie Joe Avery and Jeff Jenkins. Oliver Funeral Home of Eupora is honored to be entrusted with all arrangements.
