Jimmy Dan Cochran

Jimmy Dan Cochran age 78 of Mathiston, Mississippi passed away on Monday morning, July 27, 2026, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi after an extended illness. Jimmy Dan was born on August 4, 1947, to the late Kyle Cochran and Ruby Estes Cochran in Webster County, Mississippi. He was a former self-employed contractor and carpenter. He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Oktibbeha County and enjoyed taking care of his chickens and gardening often sharing the vegetables he raised with his family and friends. Jimmy Dan is survived by a son, Kim Cochran of Kansas City, Missouri; two sisters, Carolyn (Bobby) McMullen of Eupora, Mississippi and Ann Sturdivant of Mathiston, Mississippi; one brother, Donnie Cochran of Mathiston, Mississippi; one stepdaughter, Nikki Cook of Starkville, Mississippi; two step grandchildren, Lila Bigham and Cassie Shaw; one step grandson, Caleb McElhenny; two step great grandchildren, Vivian and Ellis Shaw and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Kyle and Rube Estes Cochran; one sister, Beverly Vaughan and one brother, Paul Cochran. Funeral Services for Jimmy Dan will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel in Eupora, Mississippi. The family will receive friends and loved ones for a time of visitation on Saturday, August 1, 2026, from 1:00PM until time for services at 2:00PM at Oliver Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Clarkson Cemetery in Webster County, Mississippi. The Graveside/Committal Services will all be held at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel instead of Clarkson Cemetery. Bro. Mike Sanders and Bro. Robert Avant will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Stacy Sturdivant, David Sturdivant, Stephen Harpole, Quint Vaughan, Rocky Vaughan, Ross Cochran, Pearson Bright, Jake Harpole and Will Harpole. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gary Crotts, Gwin McMullen, Sonny Sizemore, Eddie Strickland, Phillip Doss and Robert Avant. Oliver Funeral Home of Eupora is honored to be entrusted with all arrangements for the Cochran family.
