Sarah Alexander McNeelis Pittman Lewis, lovingly known as “Granny,” age 87, went to be with her Heavenly Father peacefully at home, surrounded by her children, on February 14, 2026. A devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and woman of enduring strength, she lived a life defined by resilience, service, and a deep and abiding love for her family. She was born on March 9, 1938, in Somerville, Tennessee, to the late James and Jeanie Green McNeelis. For many years, Sarah faithfully served as a registered nurse at Beverly Healthcare of Eupora, where she cared for her patients with exceptional compassion and dedication. She regarded her patients and coworkers as extended family, offering not only skilled medical care but also comfort, kindness, and dignity to all entrusted to her care. Nursing was far more than a profession to her — it was a true calling. Following the passing of her husband, Judge Travis O. Pittman, to whom she was married for 36 years, Sarah stepped forward to serve as Justice Court Judge for Webster County. She carried this responsibility with wisdom, fairness, and steadfast integrity, continuing a legacy of public service and leadership within her community. Sarah possessed a deep and abiding love for flowers and gardening. She found joy in planting beauty wherever she could, believing wholeheartedly in tending to God’s landscape — filling yards, gardens, and hearts alike with vibrant blooms. Her love of flowers lives on in her granddaughters, Brandie Nicole Freed and Hannah Bliss, who adored their grandmother beyond measure. They will forever cherish the buttercups their Granny so loved — bright and tender reminders of her warmth and presence. She embraced life with enthusiasm. She delighted in cruising, traveling, and shopping, finding joy in both grand adventures and simple pleasures. Among her most treasured memories were the travels she shared with her late husband, Dr. George R. Lewis, especially the special cruises that brought them happiness. Above all, she loved her grandchildren fiercely and without reservation. She instilled confidence within them, reminded them often of their strength and intelligence, and never allowed them to forget their worth.Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, James and Jeanie Green McNeelis of Somerville, Tennessee; her first husband, Judge Travis O Pittman, her second husband, Dr. George R. Lewis, her son, Donald Ray “Duck” Pittman of Eupora, Mississippi; her three sisters, Lilly and Mary of Memphis, Tennessee; her brother, James McNeelis of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; She is survived by her two sisters, Lois and Rosa; five children: Sarah E. Pittman, Mary Pittman Pittinos, Buster Pittman, Danny Wayne Pittman, and Lisa Odom of all Eupora, Mississippi; her ten grandchildren: Brandie Nicole Freed, Lindsey Jenkins Vandergriff (Jamie), Micha Terquerst, Joshua Terquerst, Magan Pittman, Justin Pittman, Stephanie Meyers (David), Michael Daniel Ray, Kurtis Luke Odom (Harley), and Hannah Blass (Will); her great-grandchildren: Bo, Hope, Eva Grace, Bella, Brayden, Macie, Madison, Grace, and Sarah Jane; and a host of nephews and nieces who often called her Sarah Belle. A Private Family Graveside Service was held at 10:00AM on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel in Eupora, Mississippi. Interment followed in Greensboro Cemetery in Webster County, Mississippi. Rev. Willy Weddle officiated the services. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Mary Virginia, whose faithful and tender care for her mother in her final years was a profound expression of devotion and love. Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we rest in God’s promise: “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” — John 3:16 In that promise, we find comfort, hope, and peace. Oliver Funeral Home of Eupora was entrusted with all arrangements.
