Michael Ray Atkins, age 62 passed away due to natural causes on October 25, 2024, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Eupora, MS. Michael was born on July 24, 1962, in Maben, MS to Larry and Jean Atkins and grew up with a love for his family, a joy in working with his hands, and a deep passion for gardening. Known for his warm presence, he spent much of his time in the company of his faithful sidekick, Boo-boo, whose companionship brought him endless comfort and joy. Michael is survived by one daughter, Michele (Dane) Milling, Eupora, MS; one son, Jonathan Atkins, Weir, MS; his father, Larry Atkins, Eupora, MS; one sister, Jean Ann Green, Eupora, MS; one brother, Terry Atkins, Eupora, MS; a proud grandfather to two beloved granddaughters, Breelyn and Ryleigh Atkins, Union, MS; four grandsons, Xander Milling, Eupora, MS; Jonathan, Bryan, and Corbin Atkins, Weir, MS; one niece, Elizabeth; and two nephews, Kevin and Kyle, Eupora, MS. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jean Atkins; his paternal grandparents, Woodrow and Myrtle Ruth Atkins and maternal grandparents, Warren and Molly Ray. Funeral Services for Michael will be 2:00PM Sunday, October 27, 2024, at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel in Eupora, MS. Interment will follow at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery in Webster County, MS. The Graveside/Committal Services will be held at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel instead of Mt. Vernon Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of Visitation from 12Noon until time for services at 2:00PM Sunday, October 27, 2024, at Oliver Funeral Home. Michael's life was a testament to the values of hard work, family loyalty, and simple pleasures. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
