Peggy Sue Scogin Barnett

Peggy Sue Scogin Barnett age 87 of Eupora, Mississippi passed away on Thursday morning, July 23, 2026, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Eupora, Mississippi. Peggy was born on April 23, 1939, to the late Clellie Edward Scogin and Gladys Middleton Scogin. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Eupora. Peggy assisted her late husband, Dub Barnett with bookkeeping and co-owned Barnett's Welding in Eupora, Mississippi for many years until his passing. Later she was employed at Webster Care in Eupora taking care of numerous children throughout the years and also helped in the Nursery at First Baptist of Eupora. She enjoyed decorating her home, especially at Christmas and the Holidays, thrifting, shopping and eating out with Mrs. Ginger. Peggy is survived by her son, Guy (Rachel) Barnett; one grandson, Noah Barnett; one brother, John "Jay" L. (Virginia "Ginger") Scogin all of Eupora, Mississippi and a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, A. W. "Dub" Barnett; one still born daughter, Kelly Sue Barnett; both parents, Clellie Edward and Gladys Middleton Scogin; four sisters, Bobbie Raye, Claudine Washington, Ethel Faulkner and Margaret Givens and one brother, Bud Scogins. A Memorial Gathering will be held at a later date by the family and Peggy will be laid to rest next to her late husband, Dub Barnett at Eupora City Cemetery in Eupora, Mississippi.
