Ruth Ellen Vaughan age 81 of Eupora, Mississippi passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital - North Mississippi in Oxford, Mississippi. Ruth Ellen was born on May 30, 1945, in Greenville, Mississippi to the late Henry and Louise Turner Vaughn. She was a retired Medical Assistant to Dr. George Walker, Ophthalmologist in Starkville, Mississippi. She enjoyed oil painting, cooking, gardening, teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and leading the music at White Hill Free Will Baptist Church where she was a long-time member. Ruth Ellen is survived by her two sons, Layne Vaughan of Eupora, Mississippi and Heath Vaughan of Mantee, Mississippi; one daughter, Johanna (John) Horace of Rock Hill, South Carolina; three grandchildren, Ashley Lauren Vaughan, Brandon Heath Vaughan and Morgan Elizabeth Vaughan and one great grandchild, Elaina Skylar Vaughan. She is preceded in death by her husband, John C. Vaughan; both parents, Henry and Louise Turner Vaughan and one brother, Henry Vaughan. Funeral Services for Mrs. Ruth Ellen will be held at 2:00PM on Monday, August 3, 2026, at White Hill Free Will Baptist Church in Eupora, Mississippi. The family will receive friends and loved ones for a time of Visitation also on Monday, August 3, 2026, from 1:00PM until time for services at 2:00PM at White Hill Free Will Baptist Church. Interment will be at North Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Kilmichael, Mississippi. The Graveside/Committal Services will be held at White Hill Free Will Baptist Church instead of North Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Rev. David Keen will officiate the services. Oliver Funeral Home of Eupora is honored to be entrusted with all arrangements for the Vaughan family.
