Sally Marie Eiland Baker, 86, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2025. Born on January 10, 1939, in Eupora, MS, she was the only child of Mr. and Mrs. A.M. Eiland. She was baptized at the age of 9 years old at First Baptist Church of Eupora. Sally was a graduate of Eupora High School (1957) and Mississippi State University (1960) with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She married Wayne Baker on July 30, 1960, at First Baptist Church, Eupora, MS. Sally began her teaching career in Pascagoula, MS teaching first grade. After moving to Clinton, MS she taught 5-year-old kindergarten. In her retirement years she was the receptionist for the Watkins Medical Building in Jackson, MS. Sally was the proud mother of two sons, Brett Eiland (Lori) Baker of Madison, MS and Bradford Wayne (Donna) Baker of Cullman, AL. Through these sons & daughters-in-law, they became the proud grandparents of five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, who brought them the greatest joys of their lives: Jackson McKnight (Mamie) Baker of Daphne, AL, McKenna Marie Baker Mundine (Ryan) of Franklin, TN, Molly Bradford Baker of Reston, VA, Merritt Eiland Baker of Madison, MS and Banks Henry Baker of Cullman, AL. and Murphy Marie Mundine of Franklin, TN. She loved attending and being involved in all the activities of her children and grandchildren. Sally and Wayne first joined First Baptist Church of Pascagoula, MS. As members for 9 years, she taught primary age girls and high school seniors. She was served as Woman’s Missionary Union President. Sally and Wayne moved to Clinton, MS in 1969. They become members of Morrison Heights Baptist Church. As a member she was actively involved in many church activities: girls bible study teacher for 20+ years, Mission Friends leader, Vacation Bible School leader, member of the Pastor Search Committee, Church Building Committee, Personnel Committee, Nominating Committee and recently the Pastor’s reception group. Sally was also involved in the community serving on the Clinton YMCA Board of Directors, Clinton Junior Civic League (serving as president), Clinton Chapter of American Association of University Women, Clinton Arts Council, and serving on the “Meals on Wheels” committee and various luncheon clubs. In 2009, she was recognized by her sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha, with the white violet pin for alumnae with 50 or more years of service. She possessed a welcoming spirit and valued others. She will be greatly missed and always remembered by those who knew and loved her. "Love you more!" A visitation will be held Friday, September 19, 2025, from 9 AM to 11 AM at Morrison Heights Baptist Church, 3000 Hampstead Blvd, Clinton, MS followed by service at 11AM. She will be laid to rest at 4 PM in Bradford Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, Gore Springs, MS. At the family’s request, in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of Sally to the building fund at Morrison Heights Baptist Church, 3000 Hampstead Blvd, Clinton, MS 39056 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
