Tammy Cummings Baker

Tammy Lynn Gurley Cummings Baker age 64, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Tammy was born on January 25, 1961, in Ackerman, Mississippi to the late James E. Gurley and Bonnie Jo Brooks Gurley. She was a retired Elementary School Teacher for thirty-three years and a member of Sapa Baptist Church in Eupora, Mississippi. Tammy loved the Lord and serving in her local church with Operation Christmas Child each year and adored all of her grandchildren as well as all of the children that she taught in school that she considered "her kids". Tammy is survived by her loving husband of twelve years, Wayne Baker of Eupora, Mississippi; three sons, Lee (Katy) Cummings of Sugarland, Texas, Lee (Stacy) Baker of Oxford, Mississippi and Robert Baker also of Oxford, Mississippi; one sister, Brenda (Ralph) Harris of Starkville, Mississippi; two brothers, Mark (Amanda) Gurley of Amory, Mississippi and Joe (Nan) Brandon, Mississippi and four grandchildren, Lillie Baker, Sydney Baker, Beckett Cummings and Samuel Cummings. She is preceded in death by her parents, James E. Gurley and Bonnie Jo Brooks Gurley and two twin granddaughters, Ella and Emil Baker. Funeral Services to celebrate the life of Tammy will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Sapa Baptist Church in Eupora, Mississippi. Interment will follow at Wood Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Stewart, Mississippi. Tammy's body will lie in state on Saturday, May 24, 2025, from 10:00AM until time for services at 2:00PM at Sapa Baptist Church for family to receive friends and loved ones for a time of visitation. Rev. Hayden Wiggins and Rev. Billy Michael Trull will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Lee Baker, Robert Baker, Earl Baker, Blaine Coker, Conner Reid, Jim Reid and Sam Wilson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joe Ballard and Ralph Harris. Oliver Funeral Home of Eupora is honored to be entrusted with all arrangements for Tammy's family. The family requests that all memorials made in Tammy's memory be made to Sapa Baptist Church.
